How I Tame My Mane

On Monday I posted about how I love/hate my hair and I posted a bunch of pics on how I wanted my hair to look. But, looking at pretty pictures won't get you any closer to having that flawless head of hair every girl dreams about.

So, in this post I'm going to tell you how I do my hair with no heat involved. Granted, I have naturally wavy, thick, big, blonde hair. I use that to my advantage and cut my grooming process in half. My point is... if you have naturally straight hair, work with it! If you have a beautiful head of bouncy curls, that's beautiful as well! I'm not saying you shouldn't curl your hair if you have straight hair or vice versa. I'm saying if you want to have a low-maintenance, worry-free style throughout the day, you should just work with your natural hair texture. But, let's admit it, hairspray can be our best friend on most days!
My hair is by no means "perfect" with this method, and most days it just turns into a poof-ball. But you know what? It's my poof-ball and I need to love it, because it's part of who I am. Love your natural hair and flaunt it! It's part of what makes you unique and beautiful!!

Wow, that was a long intro! Anywhoo, let me get right into it.

Step 1:  I shower at night. That way my hair is already dry in the morning when I'm getting ready. You can put your hair up different ways every night to get a different effect in the morning. I always put mine up in a bun on top of my head so I get a good curl and volume.

Step 2:  I put in an oil serum. Argan, moroccan and macadamia oils are all fantastic for your hair and they help keep the frizzies away. I put this in my hair before I put it up at night and again in the morning. I use 1-3 pumps depending on how much I think I need. I have pretty thick hair too. If you have thinner hair, 1 pump should be plenty. Try to keep oils away from your scalp... keeping the oil on the bottom half of your hair is perfect.

I use the Dove Hair Nourishing Oil Care Anti-Frizz Serum. It's light and doesn't weigh down your hair. Plus, you can find it at your local drugstore for really cheap!

Step 3:  Sleep!! {I LOVE this step!} ;)

Step 4:  When you're ready to style your hair, take your hair out of its style from the night before and shake it out. For me, I never really know what it's going to look like, but usually there's plenty of curl and volume (the look I love!!). From there, I make sure not to brush any of the curls out or pull my hair down. Since no heat was used, the curls are pretty fragile. Scrunch in some more oil if needed. Fix your part. And finally...

Step 5:  Use tons of hairspray! Well, maybe not TONS, but use quite a bit. The key is to find a hairspray with a fine mist. And keep your arm moving! Don't spray too much in one spot... hello crunch head! Crunch head is a no-no!

The hairspray I love is the Tresemme Tres Two Extra Hold Hairspray. Another great drugstore buy!

I hope this post wasn't too long and boring for you. But, I hope this helped in some way. :)

I would love to hear how you do your hair and what products you swear by!
Have a wonderful weekend, Lovelies!

Stay Beautiful!

Hair Love {Or Hate}

My hair has always been my best friend/worst enemy. Any of you ladies who have thick, course, long, wavy hair will understand the constant battle you have with getting your hair "perfect". My hair basically does whatever it wants... sometimes it looks great and sometimes not-so-great.

Confession time. I never heat style my hair... I don't even blow-dry! To be honest, I never got the hang of it. I've always let my hair air-dry. But just as I start to embrace my "messy" (or "lazy") hair, I run across the beautifullness  of hair that is on pinterest and I start getting jealous. It makes me want to whip out the blow-dryer and curling iron and spend two hours on my hair!

Oh how I wish I could get my hair like this without having to do any styling...
