The Makeup Question

Good Morning, Ladies! I hope your Friday has gotten off to a great start and you're ready for the weekend! What do you have planned?

Now on to today's topic! There's always been a question in my mind of how much makeup to wear. The debate between natural and glam is constantly running through my mind. Yes, I still want to look like myself after I put on my makeup, but I also don't want to look like I just rolled out of bed and didn't take any time to polish up a bit. I think there's a fine line, as with anything in life. Balance and moderation is key.

I like to wear minimal makeup for everyday because I don't feel I need much just to go to the grocery store. You know what I mean? So I believe I have found a happy medium (for myself anyway). I have found that if I put a little color on my lips my look is instantly more polished and glam. I basically just use mascara on my eyes with some highlight. Because on me, you can't really see my lid after I put mascara on. I also don't use blush or bronzer because I'm not naturally tan (so why add it?) and I already have pink in my cheeks naturally.
So I feel you should work with what you have naturally and not add something you don't already have. That's what makes you special!

Hare's an idea of what my everyday makeup looks like

So what's your take on makeup?? Do you prefer to go more natural or are you that lucky woman who can pull off that smokey eye?
{I'm so blonde and fair that a smokey eye looks terrible on me. :( Oh well...}

Stay Beautiful!
xoxo,
Elizabeth

  2. I am awful... I barely ever wear makeup during the day. And it's not bc I'm so pretty, that I don't need makeup. No, that's not the case. I'm just lazy. I try for a smokey eye at night sometimes but I am not very good at it. haha! You look beautiful btw!! xoxo

    1. Aww thank you, Hun! I totally understand what you mean. It takes quite a while to put on makeup and can be frustrating. Sometimes you don't even want to bother!
      Thanks for commenting, Elizabeth!

  3. I am a big fan of a subtle smoky eye. Smoked out eyeliner alone goes a long way for defining my eyes :) Lovely blog!

  4. Hi Elizabeth! First, thanks so much for dropping by Ooh La Frou Frou last week and for your compliments on the house. xoxo Regarding your post, I'm with you, for most days (especially in the summer) it's much more minimal .. it's usually moisturizer, a little eyeliner for definition (but no shadow), a little blush on the apples of my cheeks and lip soft lip color and that's it. For winter, I usually put on my make-up base during the day for a more finished look as well as protection for my skin from the harsh cold weather, since my skin is more on the dry side and it's not nice and humid out in winter. And I'll also wear some natural eyeshadow during the day in the winter, as well. I guess it's my way of jazzing up the white landscape outside! (Maybe no one could find me otherwise lol!)

  7. Dearest Elizabeth,

    Just found you on Lily Lemontree's blog's comment section. So here I am. Since I did study fashion design I understand your ambitions. As for the makeup part above, I am all with you for looking as natural as possible. My eyes also look a bit like miss piggy if I don't use mascara and anything... We blondes and fair skinned women will have more expression with some makeup.

  9. For me- BOTH! I dislike wearing makeup because it makes me feel like I have to cover up my natural face geography- but I pull of the smokey eye pretty well too! But sometimes I make myself not wear makeup because i feel dependent on it to make me feel pretty- which is just bad!
