Miss USA

Hello, Lovelies! I hope you're all doing well today.

The Miss USA pageant aired on NBC this past Sunday and Miss Rhode Island won the much coveted title.
I thought it would be fun to bring you all back in time through 6 decades of Miss USA pageant winners.

Isn't it interesting to see how our view of beauty has changed in a span of 60 years? Is it just me or does the 2012 winner look a bit fake compared to winners of the past decades? Don't get me wrong, I think she's gorgeous, but she seems to have no uniqueness to her... I don't know, what do you think?

1952 Miss New York
Jackie Loughery

1962 Miss Hawaii
Macel Wilson

1972 Miss Hawaii
Tanya Wilson

1982 Miss Arkansas
Terri Utley

1992 Miss California
Shannon Marketic

2002 Miss D.C.
Shauntay Hinton

2012 Miss Rhode Island
Olivia Culpo

Stay Beautiful!
xoxo,
Elizabeth

  5. Great post! I can't help but to think though that beauty queens back in the day were viewed in a similar negative light as we see them now. Sure, today it's easy to say that they were classier in the 30s, but who knows about what they were in their time.

    Sincerely,
    Sabrina

    1. They do seem a bit off... I haven't really watched any all the way through. I've seen bits and pieces. They used to be about commending inward and outward beauty. But now... It just seems to be about money. Kind of sad...

  14. I think our idea of beauty has been driven towards a more symmetrical face and flawless, airbrushed makeup. Miss New York 1952 has an almost 'girl next door' look. Today's society favors Marilyn over Jackie.

  16. Wow... yeah. It seems like before the 90's, they didn't really show a lot of skin or flaunt their chest.

And wow the 2012 -- TONS of makeup!

    You're totally right.
